Egyptian limestone head sculpture from the XXVIth Dynasty BC. The 7.5 cm high sculpture sits on a high pedestal, with traces of the original paint and stucco still visible. Although parts of the face are missing, the round head shape, large mouth and heavily painted eyes, a type of make-up that was common to both Egyptian men and women, are still visible. The head is covered by a striped shawl (nemes), a style often associated with the depiction of deities, royalty or dignitaries in ancient Egypt.
