Miniature statue of Parvati from 13th century India. Parvati is seated in the royal position, lalitasana, with her right hand pulled up on the seat, and her left leg loosely placed on a lotus flower. Her body is nicely carved, very elegant and reflects the divinity’s beauty. She is adorned with jewellery and is also wearing a high crown. The features of the face softened over the years due to the touch of devotees.
Parvati
Parvati is a major goddess in Hinduism, known primarily as the wife of Shiva and the mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya. Parvati is a form of Shakti, the divine feminine power, and is worshipped in many forms, including Durga and Kali. She represents love, fertility and devotion, but in her warrior goddess form she also has a fierce and protective side.
