Small bronze figure of Parvati from the 13-14th century. The hindu goddess is depicted on a double pedestal, with her legs crossed on top of each other (siddhasana or padmasana), holding a conch shell (shankha) in her left hand – symbolizing purity and the “OM” sound, and probably a ritual bell (ghanta) in her right hand – symbolizing the divine sound and the eliminating of evil. She is wearing a high crown, with big earrings and necklaces, and her skirt is full of motifs. The whole body of the goddess reflects her divine beauty and femininity. Facial features softened but the strong lines of the eyes and eyebrows are still visible.
