He is depicted on a circular lotus throne, wearing a monastic robe that elegantly folds around his body. The right hand forms vitarka mudra (continuous flow of knowledge, wheel of Dharma) and he has a scroll in his left hand. The face lost most of the gilt, however the strong lines and features are still visible and deeply carved. He has long earlobes and has his hair in ushnisha (double bun).
