Northern German glass tankard from the 18th century. The 17 cm high, cut glass body is covered with dense floral and geometric patterns. The handle of the tankard is wide and fits the entire head of the hand comfortably. The silver lid, which fits the stein exactly, is chiselled with garlands and topped with a gilt thaler dated 1775, bearing the monogram and coat of arms of Duke Frederick Augustus I of Oldenburg. This is accompanied by a carefully sculpted silver lion with a red stone. The object bears an unknown hallmark consisting of two letters W, indicating a regional maker.
